Top Highlights of InvestEd 2009

Attending InvestEd is a must-do yearly priority for hundreds of national investor education conference participants. Join the pilgrimage to Salt Lake City, Utah, August 7- 9, 2009, and reap financial rewards worth their weight in gold beyond the cost of attending InvestEd. An expansive curriculum, excellent instructors, state-of-the-art software tools, and stock study ideas are the tip of an iceberg harboring hundreds of reasons to attend InvestEd. All this, plus 5 meals, free Wi-Fi, free round-trip shuttle transportation between Salt Lake International Airport and the Sheraton hotel, and free parking – only $399.

Curriculum
The InvestEd curriculum shines with 60 sessions: Newbie, basic, beginner, and intermediate. It boasts more advanced level sessions than any investor conference of its kind in the country.

Instructors
InvestEd participants appreciate the guidance, skill, and ability of instructors to mine the depths of stock study analysis, portfolio management, club accounting, investment club administration, and leadership training. InvestEd presenters include Bob Adams, Mary Ann Davis, Diane Graese, Phil Keating, Lynn Ostrem, and the infamous Zinc Zeenkov (Newbie leader and master teacher). You won’t find them at any other national conference.

Software
InvestEd instructors are well versed in Toolkit 6.2, the latest upgrade to Toolkit 6, an innovative complete suite of stock analysis tools receiving rave reviews from early adopters. Toolkit Online, Stock Investment Guide for Mac and Windows, and the upgrade for Quant IX Investment Account Manager are among other software tools that import convenient online data.

Computer Lab, Cyber Cafe, Camaraderie
Relish the generous hands-on assistance in the Computer Lab, and be sure to get all of your questions answered and problems solved. With or without a personal laptop, participate in lively stock discussions and analyses, and pick up computer tips in the cheerful after-hours Cyber Cafe. You are sure to receive warm welcomes and friendly overtures from your InvestEd mates.

Vacation Attractions
Bask in the local beauty of the Wasatch Mountains, and travel a few miles by bus to hike nearby mountain trails. Use the TRAX Free Zone light-rail system in the city center to explore Salt Lake City’s Mormon landmarks and pioneer history. Sample local brews in nearby pubs and restaurants, and shop until you drop.

Relax at the resort-like Sheraton Hotel in a single or double room for only $109 + tax per night. Reserve a room in the InvestEd room block by July 13, 2009 in order to receive this low rate.

In a perfect world, as you gain in knowledge and your portfolio gains in value, you’d pass your wisdom on to your kids and grandkids. You’d be confident that, when the time comes and your estate passes to them, they’d know how to manage it. They’d not only reap the benefits of all of your hard work and dedication, but they’d be wise enough to know how to nurture it so it would continue to grow and flourish.

But, of course, this isn’t a perfect world. And no matter how enthusiastic you are about studying the intricacies of long-term investing, no matter how big a success story your portfolio is, the reality is that your kids might be like sponges – ready to take it all in. Or, they might not.

Either way, you need a plan. Sometimes that plan involves getting young people started as kids, or as young adults. Other times, it means having a back-up plan in case, despite your best efforts, they don’t share your interest and enthusiasm. Here are some thoughts and ideas from fellow investors who have been there, done that...

Four Directors Elected to ICLUBcentral Board

The NAIC/BetterInvesting board of directors is pleased to announce that Roger Ganser, Kamie Zaracki, Doug Gerlach and Bryce Klempner have been named to the board of directors of ICLUBcentral. As announced on June 1, BetterInvesting and ICLUBcentral are merging, with ICLUBcentral functioning as a for-profit, wholly owned subsidiary of BetterInvesting.

Roger, currently the chairman of the NAIC/BetterInvesting board, is the semi-retired managing partner and founder of Venture Investors LLC, the general partner of five early stage venture capital funds with a primary focus on companies formed around university research. He will serve as chairman of the ICLUBcentral board.

Kamie is the CEO of BetterInvesting. She joined BetterInvesting from The Conference Board, a global nonprofit organization where she had served as director of associates service since 2006. She previously held several leadership positions at AT&T. Kamie will be the ICLUBcentral board's CEO.

Bryce, a consultant in McKinsey & Co.'s Private Equity Practice, previously served as vice president of marketing and business development at ICLUBcentral and regularly led investing classes at national and regional events. In his role at McKinsey & Co., Bryce is focused on counseling funds and limited partnerships on all aspects of the business, from strategy and organization to specific investments and portfolio companies. Bryce also was elected to the NAIC/BetterInvesting board of directors in June.

Doug is the vice president of strategic business management at ICLUBcentral. He founded the financial portal Investorama.com (later acquired by ICLUBcentral) in 1995 and co-created the original BetterInvesting.org website soon after. He served for nine years as a director of BetterInvesting¹s Computer Group Advisory Board and is a popular speaker at BetterInvesting events across the country. Doug is the ICLUBcentral board¹s vice president-secretary.

The election of these four directors follows the appointment of Jim Thomas to the board. Jim will serve as the board's treasurer.

Over the next several months the NAIC/BetterInvesting board of directors will focus on adding independent directors to the ICLUBcentral board with experience in software and product management.
