Doug Gerlach at BetterInvesting Events

Doug Gerlach will wind up his 2009 teaching engagements with two BetterInvesting sponsored events. The Puget Sound Chapter is hosting their Annual Investors Education Conference this weekend (Nov. 20-21) so if you are in the Western Washington/Puget Sound region, why not take the opportunity to attend one of Doug's classes at this very popular Investor Conference. See details and registration information below:

  • Nov. 20-21: Puget Sound 29th Annual Investors Education Conference

On December 5, BetterInvesting's Philadelphia Chapter will host a workshop on Club Accounting/Tax Preparation & Club Portfolios. Doug will be the instructor for this one day workshop. The morning session will focus on club treasurers and any others interested in managing a club's financial records. Doug will review Club Accounting 3 software and Online Club Accounting and provide tips for year end tax preparation.

The afternoon session will focus on portfolio management techniques and club portfolio reviews. Clubs interested in having their portfolios reviewed will need to send them to Doug prior to the workshop. Fax (866-460-2399) or email portfolios to iclubcentral@gmail.com so they can be reviewed before the workshop. See details and registration information below:

I've been a dedicated fan of dividend reinvestment for a long, long time. I often find myself repeating this mantra: Reinvest all dividends. That's one of the first investment philosophies that stuck, back when I began learning about long-term investing.

My definition of dividend reinvestment has always been a simple one: If I invest in a company that offers a DRIP, I sign up for the plan from the get-go. That way, I'm automatically taking advantage of another sound long-term strategy: Dollar Cost Averaging.

Dividend reinvestment has historically given investors a lot of bang for their buck. "Studies show that, over the long term, reinvesting dividends can increase your return by about 40 percent," says fundamental long-term investor and SC forum contributor Danny Matthews.

Pre-Order your Federal and State Tax Printers

It's that time of year again — ICLUBcentral's Club Tax Printers for 2009 are available for pre-order. The Club Tax Printers make it a snap to prepare your club's required IRS filings — all from within your club accounting software. Hiring an accountant or tax preparer to complete your forms would cost hundreds of dollars, so there's no easier or quicker way to prepare your required tax filings than by using ICLUBcentral's Club Tax Printers.

As always, ICLUBcentral Club Tax Printers will be available for both federal and several state returns. The states supported by IClubcentral's State Club Tax Printer for 2009 are Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Because it's only November, all Tax Printer programs can only produce draft forms, which cannot be used to file with the IRS or your state agency. However, the software features an auto-updater, which will automatically download and install the final forms after they are approved by the IRS. Then, you can quickly print the final tax documents for your club. Read more about draft and final forms.

So, why buy your Tax Printer software now? Because you'll receive special early bird pricing by ordering before December 31, 2009. So if you're a treasurer, get approval at your next club meeting to pre-order your club's Tax Printers, and stay tuned to your email inbox and the ICLUBcentral homepage for 2009 Tax Printer updates.

Pre-order today online or over the phone at 877-334-2582.
