Update on the Stellar Performance of the Investor Advisory Service

The Hulbert Financial Digest recently published an update on the long-term performance of the investment newsletters that it covers, and the results for the Investor Advisory Service newsletter are superior!

In each of the tracked periods covered as of June 30, 2011 — year-to-date, 5-year, 10-year, 15-year, and overall since Dec. 31, 1995 — the IAS has outperformed all the following indices: the Standard & Poor's 500, the Wilshire 5000, Treatury Bills, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the NASDAQ OTC Index, the Russell 2000 SmallCap Index, the MSCI Europe-Australasia-Far East (EAFE) Index, and the Lehman Treasury Index.

In the prior 15 years, IAS delivered an annualized total return of 11.4%, compared with just 6.0% for the S&P 500 and 6.7% for the Wilshire 5000.

This is more proof that the long-term stockpicking methods used in each issue of the Investor Advisory Service work!

Trading Toolkit 6 Portfolios
by Sean Pulrang,
Support Specialist, ICLUBcentral Inc.

In Toolkit 6, users can trade stock studies with other members of your club. Here's how you can easily transfer an entire portfolio of stocks from your Toolkit 6 library.

Before starting with these steps, it's important to note that any company file imported into Toolkit 6 will austomatically replace any existing study of that stock in the destination library. Put another way: If everyone in the club has a copy of a Home Depot study on their computer, then importing most of a portfolio this way will replace the copy they already have with the one that's being imported. These instructions are specific to users of Microsoft Windows.

Setting Up:

  1. Create a folder on your desktop and give it a recognizable name.
  2. In Toolkit, open the Library and click New in the Select Portfolio section.
  3. Give your portfolio a name and fill in the Proceeds and Broker Type.
  4. Click OK to create the portfolio.
  5. With the portfolio created, click the Add plus mark at the bottom of the Portfolio section.
  6. Select a Company and Number of Shares, then click OK. Repeat this for each company you want to send.
  7. This will create a folder you can export to on your desktop and a portfolio of stocks that you know you're planning to share with someone.

Making the Export:

  1. Go to File > Export Data and when the window opens, select your new portfolio from the drop-down menu at the top of the list.
  2. Set the format to .ITK or .SSG, and then click the Add All button.
  3. Click OK to bring up the Select Export Destination window.
  4. Find the newly created folder on the list, select it and click OK.
  5. Unless you have a large number of stocks, the export will happen almost immediately and the export windows will simply disappear.
  6. Unless you have any other work to do in Toolkit, you can close it at this point.

Getting the Files Ready To Go:

  1. With Toolkit closed, find the folder made at the beginning of the Setting Up section.
  2. Double-click on this folder to open it up.
  3. From the Edit or Organize menu, click Select All.
  4. With all the files selected, right-click on any one of them and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  5. This will create a new folder, which can be copied to a portable drive, emailed or whatever is needed to get it from one place to another.

Once the Files Arrive:

  1. Once the file arrives where it needs to go, the first thing will be to make sure it's in a place that's easy to find; usually this will be either on the desktop if it was sent by email or in the portable drive if it was moved that way.
  2. With the file in the location you want, right-click on it and select Extract or Extract All.
  3. A Windows wizard will come up and take you through a short set of steps to pick the location of the exported files (I'd suggest the desktop).
  4. With the unzip done, open Toolkit and go to File > Import Company > Import Several at Once > Other Data Files.
  5. With this window open, find and click on the folder where the files were unzipped; by default, this will usually be in to a folder with the same name as the compressed/zipped file.
  6. In the Select SSG window, click on an SSG listed in the Available column, and then click Add. Repeat this step for each SSG you want to import.
  7. Once all the SSGs you want to import are listed in the Files Selected column, click OK.
  8. Toolkit will ask you to select a Portfolio for the stocks. You can either pick an existing portfolio or create a new one.
  9. Once you have the portfolio selected, click OK and Toolkit will import the files.

Updated Website License Agreements

On or around August 1, 2011, ICLUBcentral will implement an updated license agreement for its various websites. Most of the changes regard clauses on how subscribers to ICLUBcentral's services may use the stock data licensed by ICLUBcentral for subscribers' use and reflect contractual requirements by the data provider.

After we've put the license agreement into effect, you'll be asked to read and approve the website license agreement the next time you log in to myICLUB.com, StockCentral or the Investor Advisory Service. If you have questions about the agreement after reading it, please contact ICLUBcentral Support at www.iclub.com/support or 1-877-334-2582.
