January 2005 - Version 2.3 updates:
General Items
1) NAIC Classic can now import SDF files created in NAIC Stock Analyst 3 (NSA) program.
2) Restore database option created to allow restore for existing NAIC Classic databases.
This can also be used to import data from New Stock Analyst (NSA) or old Stock Analyst
program databases by locating and restoring the MDB database file used by those
programs.
3) NAIC Classic now recognizes scroll-mouse scrollwheel movement to adjust or scroll
reports and windows.
4) Minor corrections and link fixes on the About > NAIC Classic window.
5) Added links to open the NAIC Classic PMG & PERT Manual from the main help menu and
popup getting started window.
6) All Reports - Display NMF (no meaningful value) in previous year % growth calculations
where previous year value is negative.
7) Stock Comparison Guide Row 25 (Potential Dilution) no longer relevant considering OPS
and all data providers report all earnings on a diluted basis. Result is None showing in
this row. Row 25 still will remain in the report until NAIC decides to make change to the
SCG and either remove or modify this row.
8) Stock Cmparison Guide scroll down (Key down) works to move report down. Previously the
up worked and down did not using down arrow. Note this also works for scrollwheel on
scroll mouse.
9) NAIC Classic now allows printing of multiple copies of any/all reports.
SSG Graph
1) Revised the SSG Graph popup judgment to modify or reset EST Rev and EST EPS projection
% values by combining these two items into one window. In this way a person can modify or
reset one value or both without the need to open two separate popup windows.
2) Right click option on starting projection lines to begin projection at choice of
either latest Year;y data or latest Quarterly data location.
3) Corrected reported issue where the right click popup menu would fail to work after
right clicking on the report header.
4) Corrected issue in some companies and situations where position and starting number
for projection lines on SSG Graph would shift or change when Graph was resized or saved
and re-opened.
5) Always display placeholders and markers for Est and future Sales and EPS. (Items 1-4
at base of SSG Graph)
6) Corrected SSG Graph so that Mid-Point calculation method now works. Previously only
calculated Least Squares growth.
7) SSG Graph popup quarterly data circles will appear for all quarterly data present past
the end of last fiscal year. Previously only the first 4 quarters (circles) after the
last FY would show.
8) SSG Graph popup quarterly data will appear for all quarterly data circles on the
chart. Previously only the first 3 quarters after the last FY would show popup data if
you positioned the mouse over the circle.
9) Current Price bar shows the color of the price relative to zoning. (Red = sell,
Green=buy, yellow=hold)
SSG Analysis
1) Revised the SSG Analysis popup judgment to modify or reset Avg. High or Avg. Low PE
ratios by combining these two items into one window. In this way a person can modify or
reset one value or both without the need to open two separate popup windows.
2) Corrected reported issue in SSG Analysis section 2 where striking item out causes
average to recalculate wrong in part 2a and 2b.
3) Corrected reported issue where rounding of calcuated figures in SSG Analysis section
4A caused forecast High Price to appear slightly different than Avg. High PE x Est. High
EPS on report.
4) SSG Analysis more closely matches paper format with all the small cross-reference
labels added.
5) In section 3 the RV is shown as 1.00 while on the PMG graph it's shown as 100. The
decimal point should be in the same place in both and match what is used in all NIAC
programs so SSG Analysis now shows RV as a whole number.
Data Entry and Data Items
1) Doing data update properly updates 52-week high and 52-week low prices in company. It
should look at the price date, compare to price date in SSG datafile and update high and
low prices if the current price is updated.
2) Corrected the export and import of SSG files to properly load the Est.Future EPS Gr. %
and Est Future Rev Gr. % values on SSG Graph. Previously these would be calculated using
historical data instead of actual user set values. Keep in mind that the (NAIC) SSG file
type by design is not capable of storing advanced user judgment such as struck out years
(outliers) or repositioned projection line starting values. Use the SDF file format to
export an exact copy of a stock study with all judgment.
3) Quarterly Data Window - If you change the option to Tax Rate (or Pre tax Income) then
go back to the Quarterly tab the data in the Tax Rate (or Pre tax Income) column is not
correct. This appears to be a screen refresh problem. The data itself is always correct,
just the display was incorrect. This has been fixed.
4) Export SSG file now includes Est. Low price from the SSG Analysis Section 4B so that
same value can be loaded in Toolkit or other NAIC software programs.
5) Corrected issue in Data Entry on Company Info tab where invalid date can be entered
into the Date of Last FY box. Message "Date of LastQ is in conflict w/ Date of LastFY.
Click OK to go to Quarterly data tab or Cancel to stay on remain in current tab." Works
now so that Cancel stays on current tab instead of incorrectly going to yearly data tab.
Likewise the Date of LastFY box will not allow an invalid date to be entered at all.
6) Popup calendar (when double clicking a date) defaults the calendar to current date,
not the original date value when the item is Last Updated or Last Price Update dates.
These exeptions are to ease data entry when the common need to change these two dates is
to set it to current. All other dates remain same and popup in calendar with the date
that was originally listed.
7) Lock Data option now will secure all items and not just the company name and
particulars. Lock option shows on all tabs of the Data Entry popup window. Add Remove
year or Q buttons only work when unlocked. (Experienced mode only)
8) Corrected issue where switching between fractional and decimal currency display option
caused prices to round off incorrectly or become deleted.
9) Corrected concern where starting a new (blank) company and loading the data entry
popup window would default the Industry and/or Sector to the first item in that list.
This item now will remain blank until explicitely selected.
10) When updating data (online or local datafiles) if the company is more than 1 year out
of date NAIC Classic would pop up an alert and prevent updating of that company. Only way
around was to import a new copy of the company and delete the original. Now when that
situation arises a new option to do a complete update of the existing company ihas been
added. Selecting yes to update entire company will replace all the data and reset all
judgment for selected company elimionating need to import a new copy and dleete old
one.
PMG & PERT
1) Made adjustment to PERT-A report to correctly line up the quarterly data with the
Fiscal Year (bold) indicator lines. Previously the bold lines were off by one quarter.
2) Corrected alignment of monthly prices on PMG Report where they would list off by one
year in some companies whose Fiscal year ended before June 30th.
3) Corrected concern where complete RV line would fail to show ion PMG Graph or would
show inconsistently.
4) Fixed issue where the LastQ Date is not in synch with the Fiscal Year end date, that
is the Last Q Month is not matching on a quarterly basis with the Last FY month. NAIC
Classic no longer (occasionally) freezes when loading the PMG Report, PMG Graph, PERTA or
PERT Graphics.
5) PERTA, PERTB, PERT Report, and PMG Report – Added alternating back shading to reports
for easier reading. New global preference to turn PERT and PMG Report back shading on or
off added to Preferences > PMG and PERT area. Right clicking on any report and select
Back Shading option to toggle shading on or off.
6) PERT Report Column E and Z remain blank until judgment is complete on company SSG.
Previously they would show irrelevant figures such as ACE 4Q EPS or 100% Total Return.
7) Corrected PERT Report column v/w to use Lead PE not current PE in calculation.
