Backup and reinstall of Toolkit 6 when the program can still be opened.

As of September 1, 2023, Toolkit 6 is no longer supported by ICLUBcentral and BetterInvesting support. Please transition your Stock Selection Guides to BetterInvesting's Online Stock Tools Suite.

The following steps are intended to be used when Toolkit 6 will open, but some otherwise minor part of the program is not working. If Toolkit will not open, please see our FAQ on performing a manual backup and reinstall of Toolkit 6.

 

Backing up your data

If you have no data you want to save, skip to the section on Uninstalling Toolkit.

  1. Open Toolkit and click on Options > Database Utilities.
  2. Select the first option, to make a backup of your database
  3. Select C:: -Fixed from the drop-down menu, and click OK.
  4. From the list of places, go to the top of the list, and choose Desktop.
  5. Click OK
  6. Toolkit should report that the database was backed up. Click OK

 

Uninstalling Toolkit


Installing Toolkit

  1. In your web browser, go to https://www.iclub.com/support/downloads.asp
  2. Click on DOWNLOAD next to the TOOLKIT 6 icon, and then Download again on the following page.
  3. Choose SAVE or SAVE FILE if the browser asks what to do with the file
    If your browser asks where to save the file, we suggest to choose desktop.
  4. Depending on your browser, you may be given the option to run the file as soon as it is done downloading. If so, go ahead and do so. If not, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and tap the letter J to bring up the list of downloaded files.
  5. Double-click on the Toolkit6Setup
  6. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

 

Restoring your backed-up data

If you skipped the section on Backing up your data, you can skip the steps for Restoring your data as well.

  1. Open Toolkit and click on Options > Database Utilities.
  2. Select the second option, to restore a backup of your database
  3. Select C:: -Fixed from the drop-down menu, and click OK.
  4. On the window that opens, choose Desktop on the left hand side of the window.
  5. Find the file named TK or TK.itb, anc click on the file to select it. Click OK or OPEN
  6. A message will appear asking to confirm that you want to over-write the database that Toolkit is currently using; click YES
  7. A message will appear asking if you want to over-write the URL database that Toolkit is currently using; click YES
  8. Toolkit should report that the database was restored. Click OK.

 

Entering your subscription information again

  1. Open Toolkit and select Options > Preferences
  2. Fill in your BetterInvesting and/or StockCentral login and password, and select your primary service.
    Remember, your BetterInvesting login is usually your member number.
