Cannot remove or uninstall Toolkit 6

As of September 1, 2023, Toolkit 6 is no longer supported by ICLUBcentral and BetterInvesting support. Please transition your Stock Selection Guides to BetterInvesting's Online Stock Tools Suite.

If the uninstall process is not working correctly, there is an Install shield folder that can be removed, so that Windows will no longer register that Toolkit is installed on the computer. Here is the process for different copies of Windows:

 

For Windows XP:
1. Click START > CONTROL PANEL > FOLDER OPTIONS
2. Click on the VIEW Tab.
3. Locate the phrase - SHOW HIDDEN FILES and click to select it.
4. In the FOLDER VIEWS section near the top of the FOLDER OPTIONS window, click Apply to All Folders. Click OK if the computer asks to make sure you want to do this.
5. Click OK to close the FOLDER OPTIONS window and have the computer show the hidden files.
6. Go to START > MY COMPUTER > C: > Program Files > InstallShield Installation Information.
7. With this folder open, find the folder named {E2E8BDDE-6F1B-4A5D-870D-2748DA79360C}
8. Right-click this folder, and choose DELETE.
9. Windows may ask you to confirm the file being deleted; Click YES, or OK to confirm.

Once you have the folder deleted, close any open windows; you are now ready to re-install Toolkit 6
NOTE: These steps may not remove the listing for Toolkit from the Add/Remove programs control panel; you will be able to re-install Toolkit 6 regardless of this.


Instructions for Windows Vista, and Windows 7:
1. Go to START > CONTROL PANEL > APPEARANCE AND PERSONALIZATION > FOLDER OPTIONS (If you have the control panel window set to Classic View, go to START > CONTROL PANEL > FOLDER OPTIONS).
2. Click on the VIEW tab. Scroll down until you see the section labeled "Hidden files and folders".
3. Locate the phrase - SHOW HIDDEN FILES and click to select it.
4. In the FOLDER VIEWS section near the top of the FOLDER OPTIONS window, click Apply to All Folders. Click OK if the computer asks to make sure you want to do this.
5. Click OK to close the FOLDER OPTIONS window. Close any other open windows.
6. Go to START > COMPUTER > C: > Program Files > InstallShield Installation Information.
7. With this folder open, find the folder named {E2E8BDDE-6F1B-4A5D-870D-2748DA79360C}
8. Right-click this folder, and choose DELETE.
9. Windows may ask you to confirm the file being deleted; Click YES, or OK to confirm.

Once you have the folder deleted, close any open windows; you are now ready to re-install Toolkit 6.
NOTE: These steps may not remove the listing for Toolkit from the Programs and Features control panel; you will be able to re-install Toolkit 6 regardless of this.


Instructions for Windows 8:

  1. Right-click at the very bottom left hand corner of the computer screen, and select File Explorer from the menu that comes up.
  2. Click the View Tab, then click the 'Hidden items' check-box.
  3. Go to C: > Program Files > InstallShield Installation Information.
    1. NOTE: On some computers,the path may be C: > Program Files (x86) > InstallShield Installation Information
  4. With this folder open, find the folder that starts with {E2E8BDDE-6F1B-4A5D
  5. Right-click this folder, and choose DELETE.
  6. Windows may ask you to confirm the file being deleted; Click YES, or OK to confirm.


Once you have the folder deleted, close any open windows; you are now ready to re-install Toolkit 6.

Instructions for Windows 10:

  1. Click the Start button, on your keyboard, and begin typing the words File Explorer.
  2. From the results that come up, click on the entry for File Explorer, which will usually show up under the heading Best match.
  3. Click the View tab, on the window that opens, and then check that the Hidden Items box has a check-mark in it. If you do not see Hidden Items listed, click Show/Hide instead, and then select Hidden Items.
  4. On the left-hand side of the window, click This PC.
  5. In the main part of the window, double-click to open the drive that has a (C:) in its name, and then go to C: > Program Files (x86) > InstallShield Installation Information
  6. Open the InstallShield Installation Information folder, and look for the folder that starts with {E2E8BDDE-6F1B-4A5D
  7. Right-click this folder, and choose DELETE.
  8. Windows may ask you to confirm the file being deleted; Click YES, OK, or CONTINUE, to confirm.

Once you have the folder deleted, close any open windows; you are now ready to re-install Toolkit 6.
NOTE: These steps may not remove the listing for Toolkit from the control panel that shows installed programs; you will be able to re-install Toolkit 6 regardless of this.
