Size Diversification Reports

The company size definitions used in myICLUB.com and StockCentral.com follow BetterInvesting’s basic guidelines to classify companies by the amount of their revenues in the last twelve months, augmented with categories for very small (Micro) and very large (Mega) companies.

Here are the company size definitions used in myICLUB.com and StockCentral.com:

  1. Micro - TTM revenues less than $100 million.
  2. Small - TTM revenues between $100 million and $1 billion.
  3. Midsized - TTM revenues between $1 billion and $10 billion.
  4. Large – TTM revenues between $10 billion and $50 billion.
  5. Mega - TTM revenues greater than $50 billion.

Company size is defined by revenues instead of by market capitalization since it is a “truer” reflection of the size of a company’s business. Market cap can be affected by huge swings in popularity amongst investors, which can turn a small business into a large-cap stock. For the purposes of long-term, buy-and-hold, fundamental investing, using revenues as the key measure of company size allows for better “like-for-like” company comparisons.
