This note takes you through the following steps:
-Making a backup of your Stock Analyst data
-Removing Stock Analyst
-Reinstalling Stock Analyst
-Setting Compatibility mode for Vista, if required
-Restoring your Stock Analyst data, and subscription information
Back up up your data
a. In Stock Analyst, go to OPTIONS > BACKUP DATABASE.
b. In the Save As window, select DESKTOP on the left of the window. If you do not see this option, click the BROWSE FOLDERS button first.
c. Click the SAVE button.
d. Click OK when the backup is complete.
e. Close Stock Analyst
Uninstall Stock Analyst
Follow the on-screen instruction, including any accepting requests to remove files.
You may be given the option to select a check-box that says to use the same choice for all files; if so, selecting this can save some time when removing Stock Analyst.
Once the program is removed, REBOOT your computer. Make SURE to do this step.
Installing Stock Analyst
a. Enter the following directly into your browser's address bar:
This is a direct link to the Stock Analyst file; we suggest to save the file to your desktop.
b. When the download is complete, close your web browser and double-click on the installation file on your desktop.
c. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
If you are having trouble finding the file after it is downloaded, we have an FAQ on how to locate a file, depending on your browser. The FAQ is at:
Setting Compatibility (Required for Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 )
a. With the program closed, click the WINDOWS button in the lower left corner of your screen.
b. If the program does not already appear, type its name in the START SEARCH box until you find the program.
c. Right-click on the icon, then click PROPERTIES.
d. On the properties window, click the COMPATIBILITY tab.
e. On this tab, click RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPATIBILITY MODE.
f. Make sure the selection under this shows Windows XP (Service Pack2)
g. Also on this tab, click RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR.
h. Click APPLY, then OK.
Restore your data (optional)
a. In Stock Analyst, go to OPTIONS > RESTORE DATABASE.
b. In the Open window, select DESKTOP on the left of the window. If you do not see this option, click the BROWSE FOLDERS button first.
c. Double-click the SA3.BAK file
d. Click OK when the database restore is complete.
Restoring your data feed information:
a. In Stock Analyst, go to OPTIONS > PREFERENCES
b. Fill in your BetterInvesting and/or StockCentral login and password.
c. Select your primary service, and click OK
