If you would like to share basic information about your investment club to visitors and potential members, a club Administrator can enable the club's public home page from the Utilities section of the Accounting tab in myICLUB.com.
This can be useful to introduce your club to new members. By default, all myICLUB clubs are private and are only made public if an Administrator activates the page. Members' personal information is always kept private, as is the total value of the club portfolio and holdings.
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules state that investment clubs are exempt from requirements to register as public securities if they meet certain criteria and do not engage in certain activities. These include having fewer than 100 members, and all members participate in the club’s decisionmaking with no “silent” partners. In addition, clubs are prohibited from explicitly and publicly advertising for members. (See more on the SEC website). Clubs may invite individuals to contact them for more information or to arrange a club visit, and the Public Home Page can facilitate these kinds of interaction.
Customize and publish your investment club’s public home page by setting the following options.
Club Name: By default, this is the name in your club's myICLUB settings. Customize it as desired.
Contact Email: If the Contact Us form is enabled, this is the email address to which visitors can reach out to the club. Inquiries will be forwarded to this email address from myICLUB.com. At no point is this email address displayed to visitors. Double-check to make sure the email address is accurate!
Location: Be as general or specific as you like.
BetterInvesting Investment Club Connect: If your club is a member of BetterInvesting and participates in Club Connect, check Yes and a link to the program page on the BI website will be enabled. This can be an alternative way for visitors to contact your club.
Welcome Text: This is your chance to communicate with visitors. To comply with SEC regulations about investment clubs, do not make direct offers of membership. Instead, you can invite visitors to reach out to receive more information or to arrange a visit to a club meeting.
Founded Date: The year the club was founded is displayed on the page. This is the date set in the club's myICLUB settings.
You may customize your club's public home page with various elements that communicate aspects of the club's portfolio and operations. All security and portfolio reports show percentage gains/losses and/or percentage of each holding in the club's portfolios, with no dollar values.
Portfolio Heatmap. Shows the size of each security currently held as well as the total gain/loss.
Portfolio Holdings. Shows the club’s current portfolio. Excludes cash.
Watch List Holdings. The club’s current watch list securities.
Portfolio Control Panel. Key fundamentals for the club’s current holdings. Judgment figures are shown only for stocks with linked Stock Selection Guides.
Files. Only files marked “Public” in your club's File Storage are shown here. Tip: Add a welcome document to your club’s File Storage and mark it public so that it appears in the File Library on the page.
Portfolio Diversification Graphs. Displays pie charts of the portfolio's diversification by sector and by company size.
Portfolio Performance. Benchmarks the club's performance for various periods, compared to the Vanguard 500 Index Fund (VFINX).
Contact Us. Links to a form that visitors can complete to reach out to the club. Messages are relayed to the email address entered in the Public Home Page Settings.
Exclude from search engines. Check this to try to prevent search engines from including your club home page in search results. Note that some search engines do not respect this setting.
