How do I use the Symbol Lookup?

The symbol lookup page is designed to help you find the ticker symbol for security in case you do not have it on hand when entering a transaction. Simply type the name, or part of the name of a company into the Company name box, and click the Lookup button. In the case below, we've typed in the word First, and clicked the button.

Clicking submit will then show all of the stocks we have in our system where the company name contains the word First. Clicking on any one of those ticker symbols will return you to the transaction page that you were previously on, and will automatically fill in the selected ticker symbol.

While we do have a large number of companies listed in our suggestions database, most of them are individual companies that trade on one of the major markets.
If your club has purchased a Mutual Fund, ETF, or other security that is actually multiple securities trading under a single symbol, the suggestion database may not show the name when entering a Buy transaction.
Similarly, if the club has bought a stock that trades on the OTC or PNK markets, we may not have their name in the suggestion database.

If it happens that you do not find a company name listed in the drop-down menu on the Buy page, nor on the Company locator, finish entering the ticker symbol as you normally would when entering a Buy transaction, and then click the tab key on the keyboard once or twice to skip the suggestions. You will still be able to enter the order, and in most cases the system will be able to find the correct name when you complete the sale.
