ICLUBcentral's content will enrich investment club tools offered at iclub.com
CAMBRIDGE, MA, May 18, 2001
Actifunds Corporation, the leader in investment club technologies, today announced its acquisition of investment club community site ICLUBcentral. Actifunds, which recently acquired club accounting software provider EasyWare Software, will add the content from ICLUBcentral to its websites, starting with www.iclub.com. Douglas Gerlach, the founder of ICLUBcentral as well as the author of several investing books and a member of the first online investment club, recently accepted a position as Senior Contributing Editor of the combined companies.
Actifunds' online and desktop applications for investment clubs will be enriched by the comprehensive information for investors and investment clubs that ICLUBcentral has been offering since 1997. Currently, more than 1.25 million U.S. investors are involved in investment clubs, a number that has quadrupled over the past decade, partially due to heavy consumer adoption of email and easy availability of investment information online.
Robert Brooker, CEO of Actifunds, commented, "As one of the longest-standing online investment club destinations, ICLUBcentral has a lot to offer and a strong following. The acquisition highlights our commitment to providing quality products to investment clubs."
"With this acquisition, there is no doubt that Actifunds has become the premier online platform for investment club technology," said Gerlach. "I am personally pleased to be able to contribute to Actifunds' efforts to reach even more investment clubs and their members with tools, articles, and educational resources."
Actifunds' online tools are available free of charge through the National Association of Investors Corporation, at Actifunds' site www.iclub.com, and through online brokerage The Financial Café. Actifunds enables successful online group investing by making it simple for personal investors to form investment clubs online with minimal effort from club members and no compromise of club security. The software offers an intuitive user interface that facilitates communication and collaboration, regardless of location. Actifunds also helps encourage a stronger social and financial community for investors by offering each investment club access to features, including discussion boards, portfolio tracking, tax accounting, member voting, file storage, personal profiles and access to Actifunds' partner brokers.
Actifunds is a leading provider of group financial products to financial institutions and online communities. Actifunds' online sites for investment clubs enable personal investors to leverage the Internet to communicate and collaborate with others on investing decisions, making group investing easier and more social. Over 40,000 clubs use Actifunds products to manage their investment dollars, including members of the National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC), a 600,000-member non-profit organization that provides investment education for investment clubs and individual investors. Actifunds provides the NAIC's official online investment club platform, which includes communication tools and tax accounting, at www.naic-club.com. Actifunds has supplied the NAIC with club accounting software since 1989 and is now based in Cambridge, MA.
