C.V. Chung of Washington appreciates the yearly prospect to grow his investment skills at InvestEd. C.V. says, "The conference organizers anticipate topics to advance learning ahead of the curve, rather than repeating the same subjects year after year. I can comfortably stretch my mind to keep up with the new material because the dynamic mix builds on topics from previous years, and offers new subjects."

Quality and Creativity
C.V. values the expertise and availability of instructors, and has confidence in the outstanding education he receives. He finds everyone feels certain they will receive personal attention no matter what their skill level or experience. Newbies, beginners, intermediate and advanced investors, as well as investing leaders, will uncover their niche in the comprehensive session schedule. Understanding options is high on C.V.’s agenda this year.

Bob Adams is one of C.V.’s favorite instructors, and he attends Bob’s sessions year after year. He appreciates that Bob updates the research websites he recommends, revises the spreadsheets he creates, and continuously shares fresh stock analysis insights. Moreover, C.V. learns concepts he may have missed during Bob’s past sessions. Bob will teach How I Analyze a Company, Putting the Pieces Together and Analyze Annual Reports the Easy Way during the general education sessions, and How to Create a Class during the state-of-the-art Leadership Training program on Friday afternoon, August 6.

Collaboration
Mixing with fellow investors, instructors, corporate sponsors and volunteers is a major reason C.V. attends InvestEd. Everyone is approachable in the Computer Lab, fun-filled Cyber Cafe and elsewhere throughout the conference. Last year he received assistance finding municipal bond quotations on the Internet, reviewing his personal investments, and interpreting his own stock analysis data. He keeps in touch with instructors and attendees via email throughout the year.

Limited Registration and Discounted Rooms Available
InvestEd 2010 convenes on Friday, August 6, and runs through Sunday, August 8, at the Sheraton Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. InvestEd attendees receive a discounted room rate until July 13. A single or double rate in the InvestEd room block is $119 (plus tax) subject to availability.

Registration is $409, and includes five meals: breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday plus dinner on Saturday. All attendees receive a DVD containing the conference handouts and supplemental materials. No-cost wireless Internet is available in the conference area. By all means, bring your laptop. Keep your fingers crossed you will be the winner of a brand new laptop.

Additional Savings
Earn extra savings with the $25 Rebate Referral Incentive. StockCentral members receive a $10 registration discount. Full-time students, with a valid school identification card, pay only $359. C. V. says, "The costs and the fees are reasonable. I bring my family with me to see InvestEd sites in diverse areas around the country, and I treat InvestEd as a work-vacation event."

Vacation
Baltimore's Inner Harbor is one of America's oldest seaports and one of the world's newest vacation destinations. For over 300 years, the Baltimore harbor has been welcoming people from all over the world. Plan to vacation, before or after the conference, in historic and beautiful Baltimore and environs. Using Analysts' Estimates in Toolkit 6

One of the most popular features in Toolkit 6 is the ability to plot analysts' EPS estimates for future years directly on the Stock Study graph. These points can then help you refine your own EPS growth rate expectations for the company you’re analyzing.

In order to use this feature, you must manually enter the analyst data into the Toolkit 6 program for the stock you're studying. (Down the road, we hope to be able to deliver this data in the StockCentral data feed). Open a company from your library, or start a study of a new stock, and then click the graph to open the Visual Analysis window.

At the top of the graph, click the "EPS Estimates" link on the toolbar. This is where you can enter future fiscal year estimates for the company, along with a note about the source of the data. Once you enter the information, blue dots appear along the EPS series for the years you've entered data.

Acquiring the data can be done by accessing a number of websites. (The Nasdaq.com website offers up to five years of future fiscal year EPS estimates and is especially recommended). Below is a sample list of websites offering earnings estimates and growth rates — check them out and decide for yourself which are easiest to decipher and access. (These links use Almost Family Inc., AFAM, as an example company.)

  • CNN Money, two years of EPS estimates, provided by FactSet Research Systems.
  • MSN Money, two years of EPS estimates in the "Earnings Estimates" section and a five-year growth rate in the "Earnings Growth Rates" section, provided by Zacks.
  • Nasdaq.com, up to five years of EPS estimates in the "Forecast" section, and near- and long-term growth rates in the "Earnings Growth" section of Stock Analysis: Analyst Research, provided by Thomson Financial.
  • Reuters, two years of EPS estimates and a five-year growth rate, provided by Thomson Financial.
  • Yahoo Finance, two years of EPS estimates and a five-year growth rate, provided by Thomson Financial.
  • Zacks, two years of EPS estimates and a five-year growth rate

Using EPS estimates in your Toolkit 6 Stock Study can help you make better decisions regarding future expected growth of the companies that you study, so be sure to take advantage of this new tool in the program.
