Investor Advisory Service "Threepeat": Top Honors for 3rd Year in a Row

The Investor Advisory Service is proud to be named to the Investment Newsletter Honor Roll of the Hulbert Financial Digest for our third consecutive year of eligibility. In 2012, the IAS was one of just nine equity and mutual fund newsletters to receive this prestigious accolade.
Of the nine equity and mutual fund newsletters named to Hulbert's Investment Newsletter Honor Roll, the IAS had the largest annualized gain, averaging a return of 11.4% annually since 1998. To be considered, investment newsletters must show above-average performance, on a risk-adjusted basis, in both up and down markets over the past decade. Since Hulbert began tracking the Investor Advisory Service in 1998, this is only the third year that the Service has been eligible for inclusion, and we have been named to the Honor Roll in each of those three years.
Of the investing newsletters named to the 2012 Investment Newsletter Honor Roll, the IAS is ranked second in both "Grade in Up Markets" and "Grade in Down Markets."
According to the Hulbert Financial Digest, an investor following all of the Investor Advisory Service's stock picks could have earned an annual 11.4% total return during the period from Aug. 31, 1998, through Nov. 30, 2011, outperforming the Wilshire 5000 Total Stock Market Index return of 4.6% during the same timeframe.

Easy Toolkit and Investment Club Data Backups

I’m a little surprised with myself that I haven’t written anything about this before, but I was reminded today about the importance of making a backup that isn’t just to a folder on your desktop.
I’ve done a piece before (Support Ticket 14) on some standard steps for making backups with Club Accounting, Toolkit, and the online accounting.
As Russell Malley noted at the time, it’s also a good idea to have a backup that doesn't sit just on your computer. He suggested emailing yourself a copy of the file. Although this is an excellent idea, the trouble (as with most exercise programs) is in keeping to your schedule.
With that in mind, I’d like to suggest a piece of software I’ve recently started using on my computers: Dropbox.
It’s a free service (up to 2 GB of storage) that allows you to make a backup both into its online servers and to other copies of the software. One of the nice touches about this is that the company has written editions of the software not only for Mac and Windows, but also for iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, and most of the phones using Google’s Android service...

Toolkit 6.4.5 Update Released
The last of our planned Toolkit 6 updates has been released, with four additional slight changes to the program. Two of the changes are "behind the scenes" changes that improve the stability of the software. The other two changes are the ability to download stock prices from international exchanges and a tweak to the new feature that allows you to enter your own future high price in the program (Toolkit will now remember your choice when you edit the high price and use it for future data updates).
Toolkit automatically checks for the latest version when verifying your Internet connection upon startup and will download any available updates right away. If you were not online when the software opened or have this feature disabled in Preferences, select the HELP pull-down menu, then select "Check for Updates." Follow the prompts to download and install the update.
